As a Staff Designer on our Social Experiences team, you’ll be an integral part of our overall growth strategy, working to build the best possible social experiences to connect users. This includes driving user growth by expanding and enhancing our end-to-end social ecosystem, including finding, connecting, and engaging with your friends and family; improving our existing on- and off-platform sharing flows; and crafting new 0-1 social experiences to drive user retention. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring other designers on the team and driving vision for the future of meaningful connections on Pinterest. What you’ll do: Define a point of view for the social ecosystem (principles, strategy, what “good” looks like) and bring others along to think outside the box and innovate while also while including how we keep the platform and users safe Partner closely with your product and engineering counterparts to define product strategy, roadmap, process, and culture for the Social Experiences team Design impactful user-centered features that drive business impact Use storytelling to drive clarity around opportunities, solutions, and learnings for driving the strategy and execution of the team Be comfortable in a fast-paced, data-driven experimental environment Manage feedback from cross-functional stakeholders and leadership across Growth and Core teams Uphold and inspire a high level of design execution throughout the team Grow the people on your team through coaching and mentorship Leverage AI tools to accelerate team development, and pioneer ways to utilize AI in the team’s process and within the product experience What we’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree in design, a related field or equivalent experience 7+ years in Product Design (or equivalent) Experience leading complex user and metrics inspired projects Excellent product thinking and UX design skills Great communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate your design decisions and the problems they’re solving Ability to set the direction for the team by creating clear and impactful strategies Drive results by holding the team accountable for efficient, high-quality execution of goals A well-versed storyteller with strong presentation skills Experience in balancing speed and quality with a focus on driving impact through both optimizations and 0-1 product development High level of self-awareness with a growth mindset that is focused on impact Strong portfolio that demonstrates outstanding design skills and a passion for experimentation, data literacy and systems thinking a plus Understanding how to fold in Trust & Safety best practices into their solutions (privacy, integrity, controls, considering bad actors) Experience working on social features, metrics-inspired design (growth teams) is a plus Familiarity with AI tools for product development efficiency and AI capabilities for user facing features - especially Figma Make for quick prototyping and using AI assistants for referencing research, ideating and brainstorming In-Office Requirement Statement: We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. What this looks like day-to-day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role. This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times every 6-months, and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
