WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The Tambellini Group at MGT is the leading independent technology research and advisory firm dedicated exclusively to education. We are a diverse team of experts who are passionate about helping colleges, universities, and schools succeed. We are looking for a Senior Industry Analyst to join our team.

The Senior K-12 Industry Analyst serves as an expert in specific segments of the K-12 technology market. They are responsible for researching and creating analytical content, advising members, contributing to custom assessment and advisory services, and supporting membership sales and retention. As an industry analyst, they will provide visible leadership in their coverage areas and develop a personal brand that supports their position as an expert in the field through social media, speaking engagements, media presence, and other outlets.

Tambellini analysts work collaboratively to shape our strategic plans, deepen our research, and execute custom projects. Individual analysts engage in individual research and writing, but they do so in a collaborative community of inquiry and a strong culture of peer review. Analysts directly engage with institutional and industry leaders as part of their research, analyst engagements, and project work. Tambellini supports primary research exclusively and does not reference the work of other analyst firms.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and maintain a research agenda that aligns with member and market needs, Tambellini’s strategic goals, and complements the research of the other analysts
  • Create public-facing and member-facing content related to your research agenda, including but not limited to op-eds, blog posts, product profiles, practice guides, trend reports, infographic copy, and functional comparisons
  • Provide analysis and insights to members based on Tambellini data, your research in the market, and subject matter expertise
  • Conduct primary research and analysis through vendor and institutional briefings, interviews, surveys, and web and document reviews
  • Scope and deliver advisory services related to your coverage area, including but not limited to webinars, workshops, presentations, market and technology assessments, evaluations, and comparative analyses
  • Collaborate with Tambellini’s strategic advisors and sales team to support new member sales and membership retention efforts
  • Collaborate with Tambellini’s research team to support data-driven inquiry and quantitative research methodologies
  • Consult with Tambellini’s marketing team to support marketing campaigns, media contacts, and publication development
  • Prioritize value delivery in your research and all engagements and interactions with members
  • Represent Tambellini with institutions and vendors at conferences and events, including in private briefings and exclusive, analyst-only sessions at vendor conferences

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship to less experienced analysts in the development of research plans and publications
  • Provide thought leadership to the market in a highly public way through presentations, social media, blogging, etc.
  • Lead and support advisory services projects
  • Participate in conversations with prospects to articulate Tambellini's value and analyst depth
  • Provide leadership in continuous refining and expanding Tambellini methodologies in research, publication, marketing, and/or advisory services
  • Develop and expand premium service offerings using templates and guides

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • Five (5) or more years of deep subject matter expertise in one or more K-12 technology areas, including leadership experience within an institution or vendor serving K-12 education
  • Collaboration and communication skills required to thrive in a fluid, transparent, project- and team-based digital distance work environment
  • Time-management and organizational skills required to self-manage multiple project, research, and writing workflows simultaneously
  • Writing and presentation skills that flex to diverse audiences and purposes
  • Active listening, interviewing, and empathy skills required to guide analyst engagements, briefings, and assessment work successfully
  • Presence and experience necessary to establish oneself as a credible industry expert—in public and one-to-one meetings
  • Intense curiosity and readiness for continuous learning, feedback, and professional growth
