The Senior Accountant, Technical Franchise Revenue Accountant will assist in ensuring franchise revenue transactions are recorded and reported in accordance with US GAAP and company policy. This position will assist staff/lead accountants in their accounting processes and will contribute to the achievement of the Company’s timely and accurate financial reporting with a focus on process improvements and automation. 
 
The successful candidate will be action-oriented with a blend of both technical and operational accounting experience and will seek to build strong relationships with and deliver superior service to key stakeholders.

This position sits within our Atlanta based Global Support Center with an expectation to be onsite 80% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute month‑end and quarter‑end close activities for franchise revenue, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and analytics. Apply revenue recognition policies in alignment with US GAAP, including ASC 606, to account for franchise revenue activity including royalties, ad fund fees, incentives, loyalty programs, deferred revenue, and elimination of intercompany transactions
  • Evaluate transaction‑level detail to ensure completeness and accuracy of franchise revenue accounts. Research and document appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions, including review of contracts, evaluation of technical accounting guidance, and development of GAAP‑compliant conclusions
  • Prepare and review support for quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures  and Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) related to franchise revenue
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal accounting policies, and SOX/internal control requirements. Prepare and review audit support and respond to internal and external audit inquiries
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Legal, Finance, Tax, Internal Audit, Franchise Services, Financial Systems, Financial Reporting, and other stakeholders to support contract interpretation, revenue recognition, and frequent ad‑hoc requests
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, documentation, and continuous improvement across franchise revenue processes. Maintain strong technical knowledge, produce high‑quality documentation, and provide functional guidance and coaching to staff accountants, including review of work for policy compliance
  • Identify and recommend automation and process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control execution within the close. Partner with the Manager and Senior Manager on implementation and optimization of revenue management systems, automation initiatives, and related testing of system or process changes
  • Independently handle unusual or non‑routine accounting transactions and recommend solutions when issues arise. Support other accounting teams on ad‑hoc projects as business needs evolve

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 Year Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant or CPA candidate preferred 
  • 3-7 years accounting experience
  • Prior accounting experience with ERP financial systems

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, or ABILITIES

  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently and produce accurate results, meet the deadlines assigned, and make sound decisions
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, fast growing company environment where adaptability is imperative
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • A desire to work with and communicate with management with a high level of personal confidence and professionalism
  • Command of accounting principles and procedures necessary for maintaining proper company books and records to ensure accurate accounting in accordance with US GAAP
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel, word processing, and advanced applications knowledge in a Windows PC environment
