What you'll do

  • Collaboratively engineer innovative semiconductor equipment and process design solutions to quickly resolve customer issues and improve product quality in a dynamic fast-paced challenging environment.
  • Supports product development from product prototyping, development, deployment/product release, and initial field support.
  • Design and conduct experiments, tests, and prototypes to resolve complex technical problems.
  • Present analysis and support technical recommendations clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to guide the specification and development of products.
  • Provides technical support for installation and/or diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex product issues.
  • Maintain a high degree of customer engagement including face-to-face and international travel to customer sites supporting near term product releases and solve customer issues.
  • Work in a cleanroom lab and/or customer semiconductor fab environment.
Who we're looking for

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6+ years applicable experience in manufacturing processes and design, preferably in the semiconductor industry, including equivalent experience from an advanced degree in relevant technical fields.
  • BS/MS degree in the following technical fields: Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering; Advanced degree PhD desirable, but level of work experience also considered.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), statistical measurements/analysis and hypothesis tests, as well as proficiency with statistical analysis software such as JMP, Origin, or MiniTab.
  • Knowledge of fundamental electromagnetics, RF power delivery, and plasma processing chemistries.
  • Demonstrated capability for hands-on equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word software.
  • Creative thinking and problem solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional clear written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills.
Preferred qualifications
  • PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with 3+ years applicable experience in semiconductor industry.
  • Strong project management, communication/presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in risk identification and mitigation efforts, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and problem solving as well as Root Cause-Corrective Action (RCCA) for projects
  • Knowledge of plasma chamber equipment subsystems and operating principles
  • Experience with wafer metrology equipment such as SEM, CDSEM, Ellipsometry, and Optical Defect Inspection
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device manufacturing, including common operations such as lithography, wet and dry etching, deposition, electroplating, and CMP
  • General knowledge of dry etch process applications as well as effect of process parameters (power, pressure, temp, chemistry, etc.) on etch results such as etch rate, selectivity, profile, and defectivity

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $104,000.00 - $231,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
