<p>Blackrock Strategy LLC is a global risk management firm providing commercial and government clients with insights, intelligence, and planning support that enable informed decisions and mission success.</p> <br><p><strong><strong><u>Job Summary</u></strong></strong></p> <br><p>Blackrock Strategy LLC is seeking a <strong><strong><u>part-time</u></strong></strong> Planning & Project Support Specialist to support the National Park Service (NPS) Denver Service Center (DSC) in Lakewood, CO. This <strong><u>remote role</u></strong> requires experience in geographic information systems (GIS) and a background in the social sciences or related fields. The specialist will assist with analytical tasks, planning research, technical writing, and meeting coordination across a wide range of NPS planning efforts. This includes general management plans, visitor use management plans, resource stewardship strategies, and accessibility or wilderness studies.</p> <br><p><strong><strong><u>Responsibilities</u></strong></strong></p> <br><p><strong><strong>Planning, Research & Analysis</strong></strong></p> <br><ul> <br> <li>Assist with defining internal and public project scope.</li> <br> <li>Gather, synthesize, and organize background materials for planning projects.</li> <br> <li>Analyze technical data related to natural and cultural resources, land uses, demographics, outdoor recreation trends, and socioeconomic factors.</li> <br> <li>Write sections of planning documents, including strategic plans, Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs).</li> <br> <li>Research, evaluate, and explain agency policies, procedures, and technical requirements related to landscape architecture and accessibility activities.</li> <br> <li>Support development of StoryMaps for specific programs.</li> <br> <li>Troubleshoot basic to intermediate planning issues using CAD, GIS, and other technologies.</li> <br></ul> <br><p><strong><strong>Project Coordination & Documentation</strong></strong></p> <br><ul> <br> <li>Prepare logistics and materials for virtual meetings, hybrid workshops, and public meetings, including scheduling, agendas, minutes, and documentation.</li> <br> <li>Attend mandatory weekly meetings and provide detailed note-taking support.</li> <br> <li>Assist with file organization, project decision documents, and administrative record-keeping.</li> <br> <li>Transcribe flip chart notes and workshop outputs.</li> <br> <li>Manage databases and spreadsheets, including MS Project support.</li> <br> <li>Assist with project management tasks such as contributing to scope, schedule, and budget development.</li> <br></ul> <br><p><strong><strong>Product Development & Process Improvement</strong></strong></p> <br><ul> <br> <li>Assist with product development and improvement of internal processes.</li> <br> <li>Support the Publications Manager/COR and planning branches by managing project priorities, planning and carrying out assignments, and using initiative, originality, and flexibility in document preparation.</li> <br> <li>Work independently or with minimal technical support while ensuring work products are accurate, clear, and delivered on time.</li> <br> <li>Develop ideas on task organization and approach in collaboration with project managers and team members.</li> <br></ul> <br><p><strong><u><strong>Additional Duties</strong></u></strong></p> <br><ul> <br> <li>Coordinate with others when developing strategies to meet project needs.</li> <br> <li>Perform related tasks as assigned.</li> <br></ul> <br><p><strong><u><strong>Qualifications</strong></u></strong></p> <br><ul> <br> <li>Bachelor's degree in planning, environmental science, natural resources, landscape architecture, public administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).</li> <br> <li>Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret technical data.</li> <br> <li>Experience with document preparation, technical writing, or compliance-related tasks.</li> <br> <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with database or spreadsheet management.</li> <br> <li>Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.</li> <br> <li>U.S. Citizenship required.</li> <br></ul> <br><p><strong><u><strong>Preferred Skills</strong></u></strong></p> <br><ul> <br> <li>Experience with planning projects, environmental documentation, or public engagement processes.</li> <br> <li>Familiarity with CAD, GIS, StoryMaps, or similar tools.</li> <br> <li>Experience reviewing or interpreting agency policies and technical requirements.</li> <br> <li>Strong written communication and editing skills.</li> <br> <li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.</li> <br></ul> <br><p><strong><u><strong>Position Details</strong></u></strong></p> <br><p><strong><strong>Schedule</strong>:</strong> Part-time, Monday- Friday; meetings and workshops may require occasional adjusted hours.<br><strong><strong>Work Environment:</strong></strong> Remote; may require onsite participation at meetings or public workshops.<br><strong><strong>Travel:</strong></strong> Limited, depending on project requirements.</p> <br><p><br></p> <br><p><strong>LANGUAGE SKILLS</strong></p> <br><p>Ability to read in English to analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, and procedure manuals.
