The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of Health in the Health Sciences and Horticulture division, beginning Fall 2026.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach a full-time load of Health courses, which may include, but are not limited to:
    • Introduction to Public Health
    • Contemporary Health Concerns
    • Health and Social Justice
    • Drugs, Health and Society
    • Health Across the Lifespan
  • Teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats
  • Develop and revise curriculum in alignment with Title 5, C-ID, and transfer requirements
  • Develop curriculum and certificates for health pathways
  • Assess student learning outcomes and use data to improve instruction
  • Provide academic support to students
  • Participate in department meetings, college governance, program review, and professional development
  • Contribute to a collegial, collaborative academic environment
  • Contribute to department, division, and college governance through committee service and collaborative work with faculty, staff, and administrators

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success, particularly for students from historically underserved backgrounds, and will contribute to a collegial and collaborative academic environment consistent with the mission of the California Community Colleges.

Standard faculty duties include curriculum development and assessment; maintaining scheduled office hours; attending department, division, and college meetings; participating in professional development activities; serving on district and college committees; engaging in campus extracurricular activities; and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff
  2. Applicants must meet one of the following minimum qualifications per California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office:
    • Master's degree in Health Science, Health Education, Public Health, or a closely related field
    • Bachelor's degree in Health Science or a related field AND a Master's degree in a related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Successful teaching experience in a community college setting
  2. Experience teaching a variety of health-related courses
  3. Experience or training in online and hybrid instruction
  4. Demonstrated commitment to equity-minded teaching and serving diverse student populations
  5. Experience with culturally responsive pedagogy and inclusive curriculum design
  6. Knowledge of community college curriculum processes and assessment practices
  7. Experience in developing curriculum and degree pathways

Physical Abilities:

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information
  • Vision sufficient to read various materials
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to perform the tasks required of the position
  • Regularly stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Bending at waist, kneeling, or crouching
  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs

Hiring Range
